I think every person today has a mobile phone, even little children do. For many people it is a necessary thing for everyday life. Moreover their whole life is in their mobile phone.
As for me I can't imagine my life without a telephone now. Lately mobile phones have become not only a thing which is used to call people but a lot more. Mobiles have taken the place of computers and laptops. A person can check emails, search for information thanks to the internet connection on mobile phones. We can also listen to music, watch films, videos, read books and chat to our friends with the help of mobiles. It also helps us to stay in touch with people who are far away and with whom we can't meet for some reasons. It seems nothing can be better than having everything in just one little gadget.
In fact not everything is so wonderful as it seems at the first sight. Just look at people around - they are obviously addicted to their mobiles like to drugs. Every second you see a person staring at his telephone screen. Children are playing games and applications in their mobiles instead of playing football or walking with friends. People forget what it is like to communicate face to face, they only chat to people online. Moreover using mobile phones very often is dangerous because of radiation we get.
I think mobile phones are very useful in people's life, but we need to find a balance between mobile and face to face communication.

Думаю, в наше время у каждого человека есть мобильный телефон, даже у маленьких детей. Для многих это необходимая в повседневной жизни вещь. Более того, вся их жизнь находится в мобильном телефоне.
Лично я не могу представить себе свою жизнь без мобильного телефона. За последнее время телефоны стали не просто вещью, чтобы звонить кому-то, но чем-то большим. Мобильные телефоны заняли место компьютеров и ноутбуков. Мы можем проверять почту, искать информацию, благодаря наличию интернета на телефоне. Мы также можем слушать музыку, смотреть фильмы, видео, читать книги и общаться с друзьями с помощью мобильных телефонов. Они также помогают нам поддерживать контакт с людьми, которые находятся далеко и с теми, с кем мы не можем по каким-либо причинам встретиться. Кажется, что может быть лучше, чем иметь все в одном маленьком устройстве?
На самом деле не все так здорово, как кажется на самом деле. Посмотрите на людей вокруг – они, очевидно, зависимы от своих «мобильников», как от наркотиков. Каждую секунду можно увидеть человека, уставившегося в экран телефона. Дети играют в игры, приложения на своих телефонах вместо того, чтобы играть в футбол или гулять с друзьями. Люди забывают что значит общаться лицом к лицу, они только переписываются онлайн. Более того, очень частое использование мобильных телефонов может быть опасно из-за излучения.
Я считаю, что мобильные телефоны имеют много пользы в жизни людей, но мы должны найти баланс между «мобильным» и живым общением.

It’s a common truth that the world has completely changed with the expansion of technological progress. Nowadays, people have a lot of things they couldn’t even dream of one or two hundred years ago. One of such gadgets people can’t imagine their life without is a mobile phone. So why is it so important for people of the modern world?

First of, mobile phone is a mean of communication. It helps people to keep in touch with their friends and relatives at any distance. Moreover, connection to the Internet allows using different social networks and special apps like Viber, Skype or WhatsApp to make usual calls, video calls and exchange instant messages wherever we are. Additionally, this mean of communication enables us to make business quickly and effectively. You can check your e–mail and organize any meetings, pay bills and do many other useful things just with one button click.

Secondly, it’s necessary to mention that modern smart phones are the gadgets with unlimited entertainment possibilities. People can watch videos, listen to their favorite music, play different games, read books and news on the Internet… modern smart phones are ready to suggest an activity for any taste. Therefore, it’s impossible to get bored in a queue or during the journey — the only things you need are your mobile phone, earphones and a fully charged battery.

In addition, mobile phone supplies people with the feeling of safety. If you’re in a trouble or in a case of emergency you’re able to contact your family or any services to get help. Moreover, there is one really useful option called GPS that won't let you to get lost at an undisclosed location.

In conclusion, I’d like to mention that there is a disadvantage of using mobile phones too. We should remember about the mobile phone addiction especially among teenagers and their disability to communicate in the real world. Though mobile phones give us limitless opportunities, we should not forget about talking to each other live and disconnecting from a mobile phone world at all from time to time.

People from ancient times have tried to realize dreams and fantasies in order to simplify and diversify their way of life. We list a few inventions of the 20th century that have changed the habitual outlook on life.

Not so long ago the TV was considered a prestigious thing, emphasizing the status of the owner. At various times many minds worked on its development. Back in the XIX century, the Portuguese professor Adriano De Paiva and the Russian inventor Porfiry Bakhmetev independently advanced the idea of the first device capable of transmitting images on wires. In 1907, Max Dieckmann demonstrated the first television receiver with a screen size of 3x3. In the same year, professor of the Petersburg Institute of Technology Boris Rosing proved the possibility of using a cathode ray tube to convert an electrical signal into a visible image. In 1908, the Armenian physicist Hovhannes Adamyan received a patent for a two-color apparatus for signal transmission. In the late 20-ies of the 20th century in America, the first television set was compiled by the Russian emigrant Vladimir Zvorykin. He managed to break the light beam into blue, red and green colors and get a color image. He called his model "iconoscope." However, in the West, the "father of television" is the Scotsman John Logie Byrd, who patented the device, creating an image of eight lines.

The first phone was demonstrated at the end of the XIX century, and the first mobile phone appeared in the 70s of the twentieth century. When Martin Cooper, a Motorola employee from the department for the development of portable devices, showed colleagues a kilogram tube, they did not believe in the success of the new invention. Walking through Manhattan, he called from his "brick" Joel Engel, the head of the research department of the company-competitor Bell Laboratories, and was the first to apply new technologies in practice. For 15 years before Cooper, the Soviet scientist Leonid Kupriyanovich also successfully carried out such an experiment. Therefore, the question of who owns the palm tree in the field of portable devices is quite controversial. Anyway, "mobile phones" became a discovery of the 20th century, and already firmly entered our life.

Today it is difficult to imagine life without a computer, laptop or tablet. But even recently such devices were used exclusively for scientific purposes. In 1941, the German Konrad Zuse created a mechanical computer Z3, which possessed all the properties of a modern computer, but worked on the basis of telephone relays. A year later, American physicist John Atanasov and graduate student Clifford Berry began developing the first electronic computer, but they did not finish the project. In 1946, the relay was continued by John Mokley, and introduced the first electronic computer to ENIAC. The decades passed before huge machines occupying entire rooms turned into compact devices. The first personal computers appeared only in the late 70-ies of the last century.

Потому что современному человеку надо не только где-то держать, но и оперировать хреновой тучей совершенно разноплановой информации, которая, зачастую, очень маловажна в долгосрочной перспективе, чтоб забивать этим голову, но очень актуальна здесь и сейчас.
Компьютер (собсно, чем и является современный моб. телефон) позволяют делать оба эти дела одновременно, освобождая часть ресурсов мозга (а заодно как бы беря на себя часть сознания владельца кагбе между прочим). Вот на что расходуются эти свободные ресурсы - другой вопрос, тоже весьма неоднозначный.

У этого есть и обратная сторона.
Сам процесс добычи информации - это часть обучения, а когда в интернете тебе всё возможное преподносят на блюдечке, ты этот процесс, может и частично, пропускаешь.
Да, экономиться время, но для чего оно экономиться?!
Большая часть людей тратят сэкономленное время на нечто крайне тривиальное.
Люди максимально экономят время на том, что действительно важно и тратят его на "хобби", компьютерные игры, социальные сети и т.п.
Боюсь, это закончится тем, что многие из нас в 50 лет будут расшибать себе голову, кусать локти и т.п. из-за того, что "сэкономили" столько времени в молодости.
Будьте осторожны со своими желаниями.

Вставлю свои пять копеек по поводу самого вопроса: людям трудно обойтись без компьютеров и мобильных телефонов потому что они к ним привыкли, привыкли к их функциям, пусть это не физический недуг, но психологически это такая же зависимость, которая имеется у многих от сигарет или от алкоголя, они просто сделали некую призму (виртуальный мир) неотъемлемой частью своей жизни.
По-моему, это ошибка.
Ведь можно регулярно пользоваться интернетом, получать от него удовольствие, но не пускать корни, без которых, если вдруг такая необходимость появиться, ты не сможешь нормально жить.
Корни вообще - важная вещь, "не забывай свои.." - напоминали мне хорошие ребята из наушников, в своё время, и мой здравый смысл мне всегда подсказывал, что если их нельзя забывать, то лучше не пускать их там, где вещи легко забываются, а почва не надёжная, если это вообще почвой можно назвать.
Но, естественно, мне пришлось несколько раз наступить на грабли.
