The Office Connector allows you to import Word documents and create one or more Confluence pages from the content.
You can create a single page, or divide the contents up into multiple pages, based on the headings in your document.
This is useful if you have a lot of content stored in existing documents, or if you are migrating from another system or platform that allows you to export to Word format.

Import a Word document
To import a Word document in Confluence:
- Create a page in Confluence or go to an existing page (you want to view the page, not edit it).
- Choose > Import Word Document
- Choose Browse and locate the Word document you want to import, then choose Next.
The import document options appear. - Enter a title for the new page (useful if you don't want to use the file name as your page title).
- Choose where you want to import the file (as a brand new page, or overwriting an existing page with the same title).
- Choose how to handle titleconflicts (rename the new pages or replace existing pages).
- Choose whether to create a single page or multiple pages based on the heading styles in the file (this option is only available if the file contains heading styles).
- Click Import.
When the upload has finished, pages will be created with the content of the Word documents. You can then view and edit this page as normal. There's no connection between the original Word document and this page.
Import options
There are a number of options when importing a Word document that control how pages are created, whether the import should overwrite existing pages in the space, and how it should handle page name conflicts.
Root page title
This is the title of the page that will be created or updated by the import.
Where to import
Controls whether the document is imported into the current page (the page you were viewing when you selected Tools > Import) or created as a new page. Choose from
- Import as a new page in the current space - a new page will be created as a child of the space home page.
- Replace <page name> - content will be imported into the current page. The title of this page will change to the title you specified in the Root page title field.
- Delete existing children of <pagename> - any existing children of the current page will be removed when the content of the page is replaced.
Title conflicts
Controls how page name conflicts (a page with the same title already exists in the space) are handled.
- Rename imported pages if page name already exists - new pages get a new name (a number added to the end of the page title). Existing pages will be unchanged.
- Replace existing pages with imported pages of the same title - overwrite the content of existing pages. The change will be shown in the Page History for the page.
- Remove existing pages with the same title as imported pages - remove original pages and then create new pages. The change is not shown in the Page History for the page.
Split by heading
- Don't split - creates a single page.
- Level Headings - creates multiple pages in a hierarchy based on the heading levels in the document.

Supported file types
Confluence can import the content from Microsoft Word 97-2013 documents (.doc and .docx).
Limitations
In order to prevent out of memory errors, we limit the uncompressed size of the file you can import to 20 MB.

Подготовка взаимоувязанных документов к импорту в Confluence
Для импорта взаимоувязанных документов из библиотек из AuthorIT Workgroup Edition в Atlassian Confluence необходимо провести некоторые подготовительные операции. Автор заранее подготовил, вернее, «подчистил» пару боевых документов из проекта так, чтобы они были небольшими по объему и быстро импортировались в Atlassian Confluence, но при этом содержали «пересекающиеся», т.е. общие топики в структуре каждого из документов. А коль скоро абзац без заголовка, то и в содержании его не будет. Или в оглавлении
Но такая публикация выполняется только при «боевом» применении AuthorIT, в рамках решения задачи технического документирования. При импорте документов в Atlassian Confluence все наоборот - заголовки, содержащие в начале символ подчеркивания, ДОЛЖНЫ быть видны в опубликованном документе и присутствовать в содержании.
В итоге имеем примитивную библиотеку взаимоувязанных документов внутри Atlassian Confluence, для тестирования возможностей автоматизированной разработки технической документации ее более чем достаточно.
Внесение изменений в общий топик и экспорт документов из Confluence в MS Word

Внесение изменений в общий топик проводится в режиме его редактирования, см. рисунок ниже.
Экспорт следует проводить с любым шаблоном, но обязательно с выбором Export Scope р This page and its children , чтобы экспортировались все дочерние страницы.
Экспорт взаимоувязанных документов из Atlassian Confluence в Microsoft™ Word выполняется из текущего рабочего пространства выбором пункта из того же меню, что использовалось для импорта, только Export to Word, см. рисунок из подраздела Импорт документов из Microsoft™ Word в Atlassian Confluence. Но сначала следует внести изменение в любой из общих топиков, чтобы совсем уж было очевидно, что библиотека взаимоувязанных документов, сформированная в предыдущем подразделе, реально работает.
